In both Mother 3 and EarthBound, I noticed that a lot of the text bags cops. At the start of EarthBound when the meteorite falls and Ness goes to investigate, you’re shooed by the policemen in an unnecessarily rude way. Then there’s that whole segment about the corrupt cops where Ness, a boy like 10-13 years old, fights 5 different cops who locked him in a room and planned to beat him. And then there’s the few policemen in Mother 3 who show up after the 3 years have passed whose only role is to speak a couple of different sentences that contribute nothing to progress of the game. It seems that they’re only there so they can speak sentences that insult themselves. Plus all the other moments in the games that criticizes policemen that I can’t remember right now, and maybe there’s some moments like that in Mother 1 as well, I wouldn’t know. Just something tells me that Shigesato Itoi doesn’t like the police, and I would be interested to know why!
