Listening to In Utero on cassette
Damn kids and their MP3
Once my albums arrive in the mail/the delivery dude brings them, I’ll own four different versions of Nevermind.
I already own four different versions of Bleach, In Utero is up next.
No regrets.
Courtney Love has stated that that her former husband Kurt Cobain was “fucking well hung,” before confirming the long standing rumor that he had once been officially cast by Quentin Tarantino for a role in Pulp Fiction.
Speaking to GQ, Love said “Kurt had more presence and more beauty than Brad Pitt. He was a leader, he was strong, in fact he was well fucking hung, if you really want to know.”
She continued: “You ever wonder why he thanked Quentin [Tarantino] on the back of ‘In Utero’? Quentin asked him to play Eric Stoltz’s part in Pulp Fiction.”
In the same feature, Dave Grohl confirmed a statement made by Nirvana’s former lawyer Alan Mintz, who once quoted the frontman as saying “Get me off this label—I want to sell millions of records.” Grohl recalled a negotiation with a major record label in New York, where Cobain said “We want to be the biggest band in the world.”
In a separate interview with The Fix, Courtney Love described how she is sick to death of people calling her a “crazy drug freak.”
“I’ve been maligned as this drug freak for years, and I’m getting tired of it,” she said. “That’s not the way I live anymore. Obviously I’ve had a lot of issues in the past, but that was years ago … I don’t do smack. I don’t do crack anymore. I’ve never taken Special K or Ecstasy. I’ve been tempted, but every time I’ve wanted to try Ecstasy, I was talked out of it. I did do MDMA, however, a very long time ago.”
She concluded: “I still can’t escape the stigma for some reason. Even people like Kelly Osbourne feel free to fuck with me… She appeared on ‘Fashion Police’ with Joan Rivers, the bitch called me a crackhead”.

For personal use of course, not distribution. Nirvana have so many great songs that were recorded either in the studio or as high quality demos that were never released on any of their albums. Lots of them were released on compilations like Nirvana (2002) and With the Lights Out (2004), as well as bootlegs like the Outcesticide series.
I absolutely love lots of these songs, but I was getting sick of having to skim through hundreds of bootlegs, live recordings and poor quality demo recordings to find them, so I’m trying to compile them all into one album.
I’ll upload the list of songs on it soon (there’s 24 songs so far).
It’s basically only songs that have high quality recordings that weren’t released on:
- Bleach
- Nevermind
- Incesticide
- In Utero
- Unplugged in New York
I’m trying to avoid any live recordings (with the exception of Talk to Me, because no studio versions of it exist and I love that song). And hopefully people will be able to send suggestions for more songs to go on it.
I’m calling the compilation Seasons in the Sun.
